How to Grab Your Power Back From the Mighty AI Monster!

It starts by pretending to be your friend, seeming to make your life seem easier, less stressful and way more fun. In fact, you’re having such a blast that you start to hang out with it more and more. And then some more.

Instead of once in a while, you now turn to it every day. Then every day, all day. You’re not worried. It seems to be bringing you so much happiness and ease. Who cares if you can’t even go to the bathroom or eat dinner without bringing it along. And you could walk away any time, right?

You give it more and more of your power – without even realizing it. Before you know it, you’re letting it think for you. Speak for you. Dictate your decisions.

Control your eating, sleeping and crossword puzzle habits. Shape your behaviors, no matter the cost. In short, slowly but surely you have let it overtake your life.

By the time you realize you’re in its grasp, your spirit is stifled, your brain is toast, and your body is fat and bloated because all you want to do is sit around and be with it some more.

Yeah, you’re pretty much an empty shell with a suffocating soul. And you may not even know how you got here.

All you know is your so-called friend has now turned on you. It went from being a pal to being your prison. It’s robbed you of enthusiasm, drive, ambition and intuition.

It took away your individuality. It has squashed your creativity and lobotomized your intellect. It may have even stolen your job, your family and – if you’re really unlucky – your teeth.

Those of us in recovery will instantly recognize the “it” in this scenario as alcohol. But “it” could also refer to drugs, gambling, eating disorders or any addiction that eventually hijacks the brain.

And “it” can also refer to AI — Artificial Intelligence.

OK, AI may not be as prone to rotting out your teeth as alcohol may be. But you get the gist. In a society where authenticity is needed more than ever, AI seems perched to eradicate it completely.

The scariest part is, so many are blindly contributing to it. Joe Maniscalco did an exceptional job outlining how the gimme-cheap-and-fast mindset is adding fodder to the AI flame – even if the flame didn’t start out as inherently horrific.

Certain AI-powered tools have beneficial uses. But the general concept of artificial intelligence befell the same fate as pretty much everything else that falls into human hands: It turned to shit.

What starts off as a potentially useful thing gets pushed to the extreme, going off the rails and raging out of control. And once someone figures out how to make money off it, then you can really forget it.

Whatever it is gets shoved in our faces again and again until we’re brainwashed into believing that’s the only way to think, do or be.

Enough already! Whether you’ve been stuck in the clutches of addiction, materialism, robotic thinking, or the merry-go-round of AI madness and fear, you may have already realized fighting any of it doesn’t do any good.

When we give our power to the fight, we’re simply fueling the fight. We’re feeding the source. It’s like wearing a pair of finger cuffs and pulling and pulling to get out of them. The more we struggle against it, the tighter it becomes.

The trick to getting out of its clutches is just the opposite: wholehearted and fearless surrender. That’s how millions of us have stepped out of the grip of alcohol. The same method can work for AI.

Admit that AI is bigger than you. Than me. Than any of us. Admit we can’t beat it on our own free will. Admit we can’t beat anything on our own free will.

But when we align our will with the limitless power of the Universe, Spirit, or whatever you may call it, there is absolutely nothing that can bring us down.

Doubtful? Give it a whirl. The next time you’re feeling particularly tangled, close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Center yourself in your heart. Let go of the churning in your mind. Open your soul to the light from above.

Invite in that light in to restore your sanity. Cleanse your senses. Recalibrate your body, mind and spirit. We cannot compete with machines when it comes to speed, volume and spewing out garbage.

But it has nothing on us when it comes to meaningful relationships, true creativity, freedom of spirit, and unapologetic authenticity.

So go ahead, AI, do your thing. Better yet, go glitch yourself!

You have no power to bring us down if we keep fueling ourselves with love, joy and light. The more we depend on the love and light to guide us – instead of relying on the preprogrammed dictates of machines – the more joy, freedom and abundance we will have in all area of our lives.

Yes, this applies across the board – no matter how many jobs AI appears to be merrily gobbling away.

Following the light will bring us just the right opportunities at just the right time. Clawing at past jobs that no longer exist will bring only headaches and grief.

Believe me, I know. I’ve been there. And I am now truly ready to let go and let Spirit guide me into something that’s even bigger, brighter and more powerful than anything any human or amped-up computerized thing can create. Care to join me?

All you need to do is turn to the light inside of you instead of your computer screen when you’re looking for answers, peace or the next right thing.

Whoa, this whole column turned pretty deep and heavy. But so is the state of many souls in this so-called advanced era. Lighten your soul by letting the human mindset go. Loosen your grip on what other humans – and machines – have insisted is the way you should think, do and be.

Free yourself from the mighty modern grip by remembering who you are. We are all spiritual beings having a playdate on earth. Not humans that need to be mired in the muck. Not robots that need to heed AI.
